We had a fantastic time at Somkhanda! Our rooms were comfortable, food was good and the staff are so friendly. Nothing was too much for Nokathula! Our game guide, Adrian, was so knowledgeable and keen to make sure our trip was unforgettable. We will definitely return.

A real gem of a spot. Rooms are super clean and comfy. The family room is particularly spacious. They were very accommodating to allow for extra kids in the rooms. Communal kitchen which is pretty well stocked. Great fire pit to sit around and cook at. Very welcoming and helpful staff and experience all round. Will definitely visit again.

Loved everything about Somkhanda, the kids loved the pool especially because it was still very warm. It was so relaxing. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Although you can self drive on the property, a game drive with Riaan is a must. We were fortunate to see lions, buffalo, rhino and wild dogs and other antelope. Thank you Carla and Riaan we enjoyed every second and will see you again soon.

We spent 2 nights at scotia camp and this was the most awesome experience. This is wild camping at the top level. 3 rhinos spent a few hours next to our camp site. The roads are a little tricky at some stages but that is part of wild camping. If you travel in a vehicle with high ground clearance, you can drive on most of the roads. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We will definitely be back.

Riaan got in touch with us before we arrived he texted us along the journey and met us on arrival- exceptional relaxed service. We were shown to our chalets & the kitchen area it was raining so unfortunately missed a sunrise game drive. We were met by Carla when we had a lovely breakfast the next morning on the terrace overlooking the watering hole. We will definitely be coming back hopefully booking a group.

Somkhanda is a fantastic gem off the beaten track. We were so impressed with the lodge and its facilities, and the rooms are really gorgeous. It holds the appeal of a private game reserve because it feels untouched. There are 2 pools, which are great in the Zululand heat! The reserve is packed with wildlife, and we had a lekker sunset game drive with Rian, spotting a few incredible creatures. We’ll definitely be back for a longer stay.
